Ruth Therese Finsand was born June 12, 1898 near Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Hans Finsand and Elisabeth Isaacs. She had a sister, Nora Johanna.

Ruth was baptized on July 10, 1898 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Her father Hans, decided to move to North Dakota to homestead land. Ruth, her mother Elisabeth and sister Nora stayed with her maternal grandparents (Isaacs) for a few months until Hans established a home for them. They then moved to Benson, North Dakota.

Ruth Finsand died December 3, 1899 at Benson, North Dakota, only 18 months old. Her funeral was held on December 6th, 1898 at the Antiochia Lutheran Church, Brinsmade, North Dakota. Ruth was buried at the Antiochia Cemetery, Normania, Benson, North Dakota.
