William L. Cook Is Buried Here Friday
Funeral services were held for a long-time resident of the Osage vicinity, William L. Cook, 79, Friday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home in Osage. Mr. Cook died of a heart condition at his Osage home. He had been released from Mitchell County Memorial hospital the previous Wednesday, after several day's hospitalization.The Rev. Hugh Wright, pastor of the Baptist church in Osage, was in charge of the services. Burial was in the Osage cemetery.
William Levi Cook was born January 10, 1878 on a farm near Union. He attended the schools there. His marriage to Vivian Venus Dawson took place March 21, 1906. The couple observed their golden wedding last spring.
He was an active member of the Odd Fellows lodge for more than 50 years, and served locally as secretary for many years until the time of his [sentence ends here]
Mr. Cook was in the restaurant business in Noblesville, Rolf death [the last word appears to belong at end of previous sentence] and Osage, and also farmed near Little Cedar before coming to Osage. He was employed here at Birum's Buick garage, was a truck gardener, and has been local agent for the W.T. Rawleigh company for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Venus, his daughters, Mrs. John Karwac of Osage, Mrs. Neil Moran of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Wally Naber of Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Harold Brown of Hartford, Wis., Mrs. Irvin Munkle of Lime Springs; one son, Paul of Wayne, Mich., 31 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a brother, George Cook of Phoenix, Ariz.
Preceding him in death were his parents, a son, Cecil, a daughter, Mrs. E.J. Seemen, four grandchildren, two brothers and one sister.
