Mr. Wetherly, the father of Mrs. T. W. Hazelton, died at the home of his son at Osage on the 29th ult. Mr. Wetherly was in his 87th year and up to a few weeks ago was unusually well and sprightly for one of his age. A short time ago the circulation in one of his arms became impaired, this induced grangrene which in time necessitated amputation a few days ago, and the old gentleman never recovered from the shock of the operation. Mr. Wetherly had made his home with his daughter in Calmar off and on for several years past, and was quite a familiar figure about town. Nearly all of our people were acquainted with the kindly and vivacious old gentleman, and will foci grieved at the unfortunate events which led to the close of his long and blameless life. Mr. and Mrs. Hazelton and Robert McWilliams, a nephew of the deceased, attended the funeral at Osage.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows this was John Weatherly who was born Sept. 4, 1808 and is buried in the Osage Cemetery.
