Mrs. James "Jim" Stromley

Ferrill "Diane" Stromley

August 24, 1942 - March 12, 2020

Ferrill Diane Stromley was born in rural Iowa on August 24, 1942 to parents Loren and Birdie (Curtis) Shoup. She was always called by her middle name, Diane. The youngest of four children, she grew up in New Virginia, Iowa and attended high school in Pleasantville, Iowa.

Diane met her husband, James Stromley, at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. The pair were married on June 6, 1964 and they were to celebrate their 56th anniversary in June. Jim and Diane lived in Charleston, West Virginia for six years before moving to Broomfield, Colorado in 1972, where they have lived ever since.

In Colorado, Diane finished her college education at Metro State University in Denver. She graduated magna cum laude in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She enjoyed the flexibility of working as a substitute teacher around Broomfield School District, as the schedule still allowed her and Jim the chance to travel and enjoy the area.

Diane was a vibrant traveler and especially enjoyed visiting the seashore or important historic sites. She always made a point to include dinners with friends into the plans whenever it was possible.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dennis Shoup; and her sisters, Shirley (Shoup) Stalter and Phyllis (Shoup) Harris. She is survived by her husband Jim and two daughters; Erin Stromely (John) of Lakewood, Colorado and Sara Stromley of Kirkland, Washington and one grand daughter, Sonia Wahl.

**A memorial service will be rescheduled at a later date. Please check back for more information in the future.*
