Suicides While Insane.
This comm{u}nity was severely shocked yesterday at the report that Ed Mosher one of the oldest settlers of eastern Mitchell county had taken his life.
For the past two years he had been failing in health physically, and seemed prone to worry. So far as noticed his mind seemed to be clear until last Saturday he was found on top of the windmill tower and remained up there for two hours in the storm and rain, refusing to come down. His son Elmer finally induced him to descend. When he came down he was thoroughly chilled and acted queerly. So Mrs. Mosher, who was in Riceville at the time, was called out to the farm, as was also Dr. Lee.
When they arrived Mr. Mosher was found to be suffering from nervous affectation or prostration, effecting his mind. He was kept under close serveillance after that.
Yesterday morning, at about nine o’clock, he with his wife and daughter, Mrs. Ike Torney, were in the house, when he passed into the bedroom. The family thought he went in to lie down; Mrs. Mosher followed him through in a moment and found him bleeding and with a razor in his hand. She not realizing how badly he was hurt tried to take the razor from him and in so doing cut her fingers badly, Mr. Mosher falling back into her arms and expiring.- Riceville Recorder.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born May 28, 1846 and died November 16, 1909. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery.
