Andreas (Andrew) Christiansen was born in Norderhov, Buskerud, Norway on September 29, 1846 to Christian Mikkelsen and Anne Olsdatter. He spent his childhood and youth in his native home.

On March 2, 1869, he was married to Johanne Petersen of Aadalen, Norway. Immediately after their marriage, they immigrated to America and located in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. During his first years in this country, he worked on various farms in the community. He later bought land in Cedar Township, where he built his home and lived until his death.

Eight children were born to him and these five survive him: Ole Christian, John, Edward, and Theodore of this community, and Mrs. Victor (Anna) Julien, of Brownsdale, MN. His wife preceded him in death on March 7, 1915.

Since coming to this community, the departed has always been an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church. He has been an exceptionally strong, healthy, and industrious man, enjoying good health until taken ill about six weeks ago.

During the last years of his life, he has made his home with his son, Theodore and his family. The cause of his death was influenza. He died on January 13, 1931. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. O.C. Myhre at Rock Creek Lutheran church on January 15th and interment was made in the church cemetery.
