Joyce A. Boese

September 26, 1924 - May 3, 2019

Joyce Arlene (Frear) Boese, daughter of Glen and Agnes Frear was born September 26, 1924 in Alta, Iowa. She graduated from Alta High School in 1942. She went to business college in Sioux City, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Orwin Boese on December 25, 1943 at the Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Joyce worked at a bank in Sioux City. They farmed at Alta, Iowa before moving to the Riceville area in the 1950s and later retired from farming. Joyce was past president of St. Peter’s Lutheran Ladies Aid and Zone president. Joyce loved to dance especially tap dance. She spent many winters in Florida where she enjoyed clogging.

Joyce is survived by a daughter, Mary (Gene) Allison of Waterloo, IA; a son, Richard of Osage; five grandchildren: Richard W., Matthew, Aurora, Casey Allison, and Molly (RaKeem) Washington; a step-grandchild, Angela; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; two sisters-in-law, Edith Frear of Nebraska and Virginia Frear of Missouri.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orwin Boese; three brothers: Donald, Marvin and Gene Frear and a sister, Deanna Furderburg.
