Harold “Harry” Hemann, age 91, of Osage, died Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the Faith Home in Osage.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle and Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Visitation with the body present will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Cremation will take place following the visitation. Inurnment will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage with military rites by Osage American Legion Post 278 and Osage V.F.W. Post 7920.
Harry was born February 27, 1928, in Stacyville, the son of Anton and Alvina (May) Hemann. He graduated from Visitation Catholic High School in 1945. Harry served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
On October 6, 1951, he married Helen Heimer at St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minnesota. Helen died July 4, 2001. Harry was a dairy farmer and was the owner/operator of Hemann Electric. On October 22, 2005, he married Roma Hemann at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Harry was a past Grand Knight of the Osage Knights of Columbus Council 4308, a lifetime member of Osage V.F.W. Post 7920, Osage American Legion Post 278, and was a member of the Honor Flight.
Harry is survived by his wife, Roma Hemann of Osage; his seven sons, Duane (Janet) Hemann of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Dave (Terry) Hemann of Osage, Doug (Robin) Hemann of Stewartville, Minnesota, Tony (Jill) Hemann of Edgewood, Glen (Cindy) Hemann of Pine Island, Minnesota, Dwight Hemann of Griffin, Georgia, and Jim (Shelly) Hemann of Osage; 14 grandchildren, Chris (Amber) Hemann, Nate (Briana) Hemann, Andrea (Joe) Forbes, Bruce (Kely) Hemann, Josh (Heather) Hemann, Amanda (Andy) Muller, Blake (Allison) Hemann, Tyler (Maddie) Hemann, Amy (Cole) Nielsen, Beth (Nate) Hall, Brittany Hemann, Ashley Hemann, Spenser (Andrea) Smith, and Chelsey (Zach) Shane; 28 great-grandchildren and one on the way; five step-sons, Quentin (Deb) Hemann of Elko-New Market, Minnesota, Randy (Lynne) Hemann of Rochester, Minnesota, Paul Hemann of North St. Paul, Minnesota, Tim (Kari) Hemann of Newton, and Jamie (Monica) Hemann of Chadsworth, California; four step-daughters, Lori (Mike) Heimer of Stewartville, Minnesota, Lois (Dan) Stromley of Rockwell, Lu (Beth) Wilford of Coralville, and Lana (Scott) Sellner of Fairfax; 20 step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Marvin Hemann of Stacyville, and Robert (Maureen) Hemann of Emmetsburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Helen Hemann; grandson, Kevin Smith; two sisters, Irene Small and Alice Gerk; and two brothers, Donald Hemann and Vernon Hemann.
