Kenneth “Kenny” Koenigs, 76, of Stacyville, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 16, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.
A funeral Mass for Kenny Koenigs will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Reverend Raymond Burkle officiating.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 a.m. to the start of the Mass at the church on Saturday.
Kenneth “Kenny” Joseph Koenigs, the son of Aloysius and Olive (Blake) Koenigs, was born August 7, 1942 in Omaha, Nebraska. He received his education in Meyer, Iowa and Stacyville, Iowa. Kenny joined the United States Army in 1960 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1963.
He was united in marriage to Veronica Adams on June 8, 1968 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. This union was blessed with four sons: Brian, Craig, Kevin and Scott.
Kenny farmed at Minnesota Lake, Minnesota and at the family farm just east of Stacyville. He worked on upholstery and welding for people throughout the community, but his favorite “job” was babysitting his granddaughters.
Kenny was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and was able to utilize services provided by the Veteran's Administration. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, camping, fishing and attending shows in Branson, Missouri. Kenny loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Living family members include his wife, Veronica; sons: Brian of Stacyville, Craig of Riceville and Scott (Marcella) of St. Ansgar; 13 grandchildren; siblings: Betty Ann (Ken) Menke of Polo, Missouri, Bob (Karen) Koenigs of Stacyville, Sister Mary Jane Koenigs of Sioux City, Pat (Tom) Weishaar of Fort Dodge and Steve (Lori) Koenigs of Riceville; biological siblings: Ed Stomper, Rhonda Rema and June Cota all of Waukon and Danelda of Tucson, Arizona; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Kenny was preceded in death by his son, Kevin; parents, Al and Olive Koenigs; infant brother, Kenneth; infant sisters: Betty Lou, Mary Lou and Kathy; biological brother, Mick Stomper; and biological mother, Norma Stomper.
