May 12, 1941 -- March 14, 2019 (age 77)

Roger LaVern Crews, age 77, of Stacyville, Iowa, and formerly of Austin, Minnesota, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 14, 2019 at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City, Iowa, surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was born May 12, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota, to Gerald and Leona (Sargent) Crews. Roger grew up in Austin and worked at Crews Auto Parts and was self-employed for many years. Roger and Sandy lived in Waltham for many years, then in 2009 the couple moved to Stacyville, Iowa. He enjoyed fishing, sightseeing, and spending time with family and friends. Roger will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy Ulwelling of Stacyville, IA; sons, Roger (Karen) Crews, Jr. of Lake Mills, IA, Ron (Melissa Akkerman) Crews of Austin, MN, Jon Crews of Kasson, MN; daughter, Krystal (Allen Duren) Crews of Stacyville, IA; 10 grandchildren, Carissa, Amanda, Brandon, Emily, Madison, Jeff, Tyler, Brianna, Maci, and Zoe; three brothers, Robert (Valinda) Crews of Austin, Darrell (Jean) Crews of Austin, MN, Ramon (Sue) Crews of Waltham, MN; six sisters, Audrey Tindal of Austin, MN; Marlys Staffon of Austin, MN, Charlene Kruger of Oakland, MN, Betty (Bill) Hansen of Austin, MN, Dawn Taylor of Austin, MN, Renee (Jeff) Janney of Mauston, WI, sisters-in-law, Sheri Crews of Spring Valley, MN, Tracey Crews of Austin, MN; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Leona Crews; and two brothers, Gary and Jim Crews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 18, at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and will continue for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
