Darlene Anderson, age 83, of Osage, died Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 2, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage with Pastor Julie Schubert officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Monticello, Minnesota on Monday, November 5, 2018. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Friday at the church. There will be a luncheon and time to greet the family in the church hall immediately following the service.

Darlene was born August 7, 1935, at the family home, the daughter of Fred and Gladys (Olson) Shoger. Darlene graduated from the Osage High School in 1954. She attended the Minneapolis School of Business where she received training as a Medical Secretary, and later completed one semester at St. Olaf College where she met Arthur.

Darlene was married to Arthur Anderson on August 8, 1959, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, of rural Osage. To this union two children were born. Darlene worked as a Medical Secretary at Monticello Big Lake Community Hospital. After Art’s death, Darlene returned to Osage.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a member of the Senior Center. Darlene enjoyed traveling with Art after their retirement, gardening and spending time in her gazebo, playing cards, volunteering at the soup kitchen and hospice.

Darlene is survived by her grandchildren Kaela (Don Elliott) Schramm of Victoria, BC, Canada, Adrian Schramm of St. Paul, Arthur Paul Anderson II of Big Lake, MN, Sarina Schramm of Chicago, and son-in-law Andreas (Jen Ouellette) Schramm of St. Paul; nieces, Linda (Ken) Brandau of Rudd, Cheryl Ahlcrona (Carl Floren) of Minneapolis, Donna (Robert) Counsell of Osage, Sue Ahlcrona (Dennis Trooien) of Minneapolis, Marcia (Jim) Rosendahl of Osage, and Nancy Ahlcorona of Minneapolis.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; son, Paul; daughter, Judy Schramm; brothers, Dale and Duane Shoger; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Shoger.
