Helen Frances Sullivan, age 83, of Osage and formerly of Orchard, died Monday, October 29, 2018, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven, with Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in New Haven. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Helen was born March 12, 1935, in Goodell, Iowa, the daughter of Lawrence and Bridget (Nolan) Smith. She attended Catholic school in Wesley for 8 years and graduated from Britt High School. On September 28, 1963, she was united in marriage to Mark Sullivan at St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. They established their home in the Orchard area. They were blessed with three daughters and two sons.
Helen was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society and taught religious education for many years. She was a member of Orchard Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the Mitchell County Home and with the Hospital Auxiliary. Helen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life.
Helen is survived by her children, Anne Sullivan and daughters, Madison and Kaitlin of Des Moines, Madonna (Greg) Kolakowski and daughter, Chloe of New York, New York, Tim (Jenny) Sullivan and children, Emily, Claire and Joe of Osage, Kevin (Pilar) Sullivan and children, Ryan, Tyler and Alicia of Farmington, Minnesota, and Colleen (Josh) Byrnes and children, Alexandra, Nolan and Scarlett of Osage; brothers, Steve Smith and Chuck Smith; sister, Berniece Seiler; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mark in 2015; sisters, Barb Detrick and Noreen Kelly; and brother Joe Smith.
