Dale Bartholmey, 83, of Charles City, passed away Saturday, September 08, 2018 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City after fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
A funeral service for Dale Bartholmey will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Sister Diana Blong from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Hauser Funeral home.
Dale John Bartholmey, the son of Joseph and Florence (Adams) Bartholmey, was born on July 27, 1935 in Stacyville, Iowa. He attended catholic school in Stacyville. Dale enlisted in the United States Army in 1958, 31st Transportation Battalion, where he was in the vehicle tank recovery unit in the maintenance division where he was ranked SP4. He was honorably discharged in 1963.
Dale was united in marriage to Marjorie Bonner in 1964. To this union three children were born: Brian, Steve, and Annette. The couple later divorced.
Dale worked at the Oliver and White Farms for 26 years, until his retirement, doing maintenance and repair.
Dale was a member of the VFW. He was a secretary for the Hope House in Charles City. He was proud of his 30 year sobriety and was always helping those in need. Dale always enjoyed visiting with his coffee group at Hy-Vee. He was an avid fisherman and had a green thumb in his vegetable garden.
Living family members include his children: Brian "Bart" (Tina Shrader-Bartholmey) Bartholmey, Steve Bartholmey, and Annette (Brian Mueller) Roethler; grandchildren: Denise Thompson, Theresa Martin, Kaitlyn Roethler, Keith Bartholmey, Nathan Bartholmey, and Parker Mueller; step grandchildren, Morgan Shrader and Miranda Bluhm; five great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Smolik; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William and Lloyd.
