Jane Ann (Krogstad) Rowe was born on March 2, 1951, at the Cedar Valley Hospital in Charles City, Iowa to Glen and Dorothy (Mauser) Krogstad. Jane was baptized at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage. Jane started grade school in Marble Rock and then moved to the Osage area when she was in third grade.

She graduated from the Osage Community High School in May of 1969. Jane enjoyed playing the piano and organ during her high school years along with being a very active 4-H member of the Jolly Rockets, Douglas Happy Jills, and Mitchell County Chore Girls. She also was an active member of the Luther League group at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. After high school graduation, Jane enrolled in the Fashion Merchandising Program at Iowa Central Community College located in Fort Dodge, Iowa. During this time, she worked at various retail stores as part of the two-year work study and job-sharing program. She graduated from this program in May of 1971 with an Associate of Arts Degree.

Jane married David Jon Rowe on October 2, 1975, at Ames, Iowa, where Jane was working at I.S.U. as a secretary. Jane and David lived in the Rock Township area where David farmed and Jane worked at Skogmos Department store in St. Ansgar for several years. Jane later worked in bookkeeping at the Osage Farmers National Bank in Osage and at the Mitchell County Press News. She was the payroll clerk at the Mitchell County Auditor’s office for 20 ½ years until she retired in 2013.

Jane had a passion for quilting and photo scrapbooking with friends. Her three grandsons Adler, Cohen, and Griffen Rowe have especially been blessed with many quilts and photo albums from Grandma Rowe over the years. She looked forward to attending their activities, visits, sleep-overs, and watching them grow. Jane has worked and taught quilting classes at Debbie’s Quilt and Gift Shop in her retirement years (a very thinly disguised cover story for more fabric shopping and quilting retreats).

She was chairperson for ten years of the Cedar Valley Quilt Guild and coordinated the Quilts of Compassion Project during that time. She was an active member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Ruth Circle, and a leading member of the Osage Unit #278 American Legion Auxiliary. Jane and David enjoyed “going for a drive” to visit family and friends over the years along with socializing with neighbors. They moved to Osage in the fall of 2006.

Words cannot do justice to the vibrant color (preferentially a shade of purple) she provided to so many lives. She was a patchwork quilt of fond memories and new achievements stitched together with love, shared by so many whose lives she touched and kept warm.

Jane is survived by her son, Joseph (Pamela) Rowe of Manly, Iowa; grandsons, Adler, Cohen, and Griffen Rowe of Manly, Iowa; mother, Dorothy Krogstad of Osage, Iowa; sisters, Janet (Frank) Philipp of Aurora, Colorado, Jean (Bill) Klinkenberg of The Villages, Florida, and Janan (Joe) Canacari of Clinton, Utah; brother-in-law, Jerald Rowe of Seward, Alaska; along with cousins, nephews, and a niece.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, David in December 2017; an infant son, Jon David Rowe; father, Glen Krogstad; brother-in-law, Mark Powers; father-in-law, Lester Rowe; and mother-in-law, Dallas Rowe.
