David A. “Famous Dave” Walters, age 59, of Osage, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 27, 2017. He passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side after a short illness with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Gospel Lighthouse Church, 205 Madison Street, Floyd, Iowa, with Pastor Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.

David A. Walters was born May 8, 1958, in Osage, Iowa, the son of LeRoy and Genevieve (Adams) Walters. He graduated from Osage Community High School in 1976. On October 28, 1978, he married Christine Pyfferoen in Byron, Minnesota.

Dave was employed as an autobody technician in the family owned and operated business, known as Roy’s Body Shop from 1952 until 2016, at which time the name was changed to Integrity Collision and Recovery. Dave was passionate about his work and was a hard-working man who was a fabulous provider for his family.

He faithfully attended Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd, where he enjoyed attending the monthly men’s groups, ushering and greeting everyone. Dave had been an avid AA and NA sponsor and leader for those who needed an “ear” or help with their addictions. He enjoyed visiting with all kinds of people, especially those that were down and out.

Dave loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with his whole being. He enjoyed motorcycling and was a past president of the Iowa Chapter of Bondslaves Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed camping and vacationing as much as possible.

David is survived by his wife, Christine Walters of Osage; his son, Jared (Angie) Walters and children, Taylor, Gabriell and Carter Walters of Floyd; his daughter, Tasha (Jason) Brandt and children, Jase, Kassidy, Krystal, Reis and Rayna Brandt of Eureka, Kansas; his daughter, Alissa (Matt) Nicholson and children, Halei and Marcus Nicholson of Osage; father, LeRoy Walters of Osage; sister, Debra Johnson of Mason City; mother-in-law, Betty Pyfferoen of Rochester, Minnesota; and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve Walters in 2014; father-in-law, Glynn Pyfferoen; and several other family members.
