DEATH OF OREN SAGE
Osage, the county seat of Mitchell County, Iowa, was so named in honor of O. Sage, Esq. of Ware, Mass., who founded it and has been its best benefactor in many ways. On the 23d. inst., the mayor of Osage received a telegram from Ware, announcing the death of Mr. Sage at that place that day, and adding that the funeral would be on that Friday, and the funeral text, Revelation, xxii, 14.
The Osage common council passed a series of resolutions, directing the closing of all business places on the day of the funeral, and the assembling of the people at the Congregational Church to hold services in memory of whom they mourn, not alone for his many benefactions, but because he was a man whose worthy and unselfish life called forth such sorrow as befits a town bearing his name, as if it were a child doing honor to the memory of a kind and loving father.
