Edward George Kittleson, 84, of St. Ansgar, surrounded by his family, met his Lord on August 26, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at First Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar with Pastor Christopher Staley officiating. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, Iowa. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in St Ansgar.

Edward was born September 6, 1932, in Owasa, Iowa, the son of Sherwin and Ila [Bookhart] Kittleson. Edward graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1949. After graduation, he attended and graduated from Wartburg College in 1952 with a degree in Science Education.

He married Mary Ann Pike on October 25, 1952. Ed played Baseball, Football and Basketball at college and earned the Hertel Award. He started his teaching career at McIntire, then Fertile, North Central Manly and Greene. He was an outstanding teacher and coach who loved learning and challenging his students and athletes. He retired in 1992.

Ed was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. He loved camping, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. Ed was inducted in the St. Ansgar Booster Club Hall of Fame in 2013 in recognition of his dedication to St. Ansgar athletes. He devoted countless volunteer hours to many organizations in St. Ansgar and Greene, including Lions Club, Library Board, Trees Forever, Greene Betterment, Historical Society and Church Council.

Edward is survived by his wife Mary Ann of St. Ansgar; daughter Loretta (Dennis) Duncan of Boone and their children Cassandra (John) Hurst and George (Cara) Weiland; daughter Jacqueline (Joel) Price of Hampton and their children Josalyn Sanders, and Joseph (Jill) Price; daughter Sherri (Steve) Ward of Greene and their children Jennifer (Michael) Lane, Meagan (Adam) Miller, Danielle (Chad) Culp, Stephanie (Brad) Ward, Christopher (Jessica) Ward; great-grandchildren: Emily Neubauer, Landon Sanders, Logan Sanders, Madison Frye, Matthew Spangenberg, Carter Frye, Aiden Lane, Grace Price, Drake Lane, Hayden Price, Tinley Miller, Scarlet Culp, Caroline Ward, Vivian Ward, Lillian Hurst and Harlow Miller; brother, Stanton (Judith) Kittleson, Karen (Darrell) Bloom and Roger (Julie) Kittleson and many nieces and nephews.

His parents, Sherwin and Ila Kittleson, preceded him in death.
