Earl Raymond Torney, age 87, of Osage, Iowa, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday May 19, 2017, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Paul Brown officiating. Inurnment will be in the Osage Cemetery with Military Rites at the grave by Osage V.F.W. Post 7920. Following the services, the family will greet family and friends and share refreshments at the Faith Lutheran Home, 914 Davidson Drive, Osage.
Earl was born December 5, 1929, in Osage, Iowa, the son Raymond and Christol (Mortensen) Torney. He attended school in Osage and graduated from Osage Community High School. He joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany from 1951-1953. Earl was united in marriage to Veradene Louise Groen on July 28, 1957, at the First Baptist Church in Osage. He farmed the majority of his adult life.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Earl enjoyed woodworking for over 30 years and sold wooden toys in the Amana Colonies. He loved doing crossword puzzles, playing bingo and visiting with family and friends.
Earl is survived by two daughters, LeAnn Torney of Burt and Lisa Torney of Coralville; one sister, Gladys Johnson of Hawarden; two brothers, Donald Torney of Williamsburg and Arnold Torney of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
His was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Veradene in 1976; two sisters, Shirley Torney and Mabel Krahenbuhl and one brother, Gene Torney.
