RICEVILLE, IOWA — Lola G. Hinzman, 93, of Riceville, died on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the Riceville Family Care Center.

A memorial service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville.

Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, as Lola made an anatomical gift to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Obituary for Lola G Hinzman

Lola G. Hinzman, 93, of Riceville, Iowa, passed away at the Riceville Family Care Center on Saturday, February 25, 2017.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 7, at 2:30 pm at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville.
Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Riceville, as Lola made an anatomical gift to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Lola Geraldine Thompson was born on April 15, 1923 to Raymond and Lucille Thompson in Riceville.
She attended local schools and graduated from Riceville High School in 1941. Lola was united in marriage to Robert Hinzman on July 1, 1942. To them was born a daughter, Connie Rae.

Lola worked as a telephone operator for C. C Pearce at the telephone company for ten years. She decided to enroll in Cedar Rapids Barber College in 1972. After graduation, she and her husband, Robert, operated "Hinzman's Hair N Care" for 41 years. After Robert's death in 2005, Lola continued to barber until health forced her to retire at age 90. She was always happiest when serving her many customers. She took great pride in her profession.

Lola is survived by her daughter, Connie, (Jerry Kilts) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and her beloved grand-daughter Kimberly Rae of Des Moines, Ia. One sister, Betty Monaghan, of Reno, Nevada, nephews Jeffrey (Patti) and Patrick Monaghan of Reno, Nevada and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her brother, Raymond (Buck), and her parents.
