Longtime Lyle Resident Dies in St. Paul
Funeral services were held Friday, August 13 for a longtime former Lyle resident, Mrs. Edna Putman (sic), 94, who died in Church Nursing Home, St. Paul, August 10, at Our Savior's Lutheran church, Lyle, with the Rev. M. Johnson officiating. Interment was in Woodbury cemetery.
Edna M. Cobb, daughter of Dr. W.F. and Abbie Cobb, was born in Mona October 14, 1876. She grew up at Mona where her father was a doctor and later moved to Lyle in 1895 where she lived until 1967.
She was organist and Sunday school teacher in Congregational church, Lyle, for many years, and taught in rural schools in Mitchell county. One of her schools was the Drown school in Union twp. north of Toeterville.
In 1904 she married N.C. Putman and they celebrated their golden wedding in 1954, just a month before her husband died. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church, the ALCW and Circles, and a Charter member of the Lyle WCTU. Survivors are one son, Grant C. Putman of St. Paul, a daughter, Ruth Putman, Cedar Rapids; one nephew, Willis Olson, of Tuscon, Ariz.
