Gayle (Gail) Esther Torney was born August 4, 1896 at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, to Albert Richard Torney and Paulina Sophia Erickson, the fourth of their five children. Gayle never married nor had children.

1915: Gale Torney age 18.

1920: Earnest A Torney 30, Paulina Torney 50, Gail E Torney 23, Gladys E Torney 17.

1925: Ernest Tomey 35, Pauline Tomey 55, Gale Tomey 26.

1930: Pauline S Torney 60, Ernest A Torney 40, Gale E Torney 33.

Found in the 1940 census at the State Hospital at Independence, Buchanan, Iowa as a patient: Gail Torney age 44.

Gayle E Torney died on July 19, 1956 at Independence, Buchanan, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
