Dean Kenneth Torney was born September 5, 1912, at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa to Edward James Torney and Luva Anna Whipple, the youngest of their six children. His older siblings were: Vera Grace, John Gordon, Grant Richard, Herman Merle and Celia L.

Found in the 1915 census living on a farm at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa: Dean Torney age 2.

Found in the 1930 census at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Luva A Torney 54, Dean R Torney 17.

Dean K. Torney served in the Army National Guard from the 1940's to 1960's.

Dean married Charlotte Kathryn Olsen on October 17, 1940 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Little Falls, Morrison, Minnesota.

After Charlotte's death, he married a second time to Renee Angeline Gilbride on September 28, 1951 at St James Catholic, Duluth, St Louis, Minnesota.

Dean Torney died April 2, 1965 in a car accident at Stearns, Minnesota. He was buried at the Calvary Cemetery, Little Falls, Morrison, Minnesota. There is a memorial for him at Find a Grave #121996768
