Anna Helena Tollefson was born October 30, 1850 at Dixon, Illinois to Knud Berg Tollefson and Tarand Knudsdatter, the third of their nine children.
When still an infant, her parents moved north to live at Rock Prairie, Rock, Wisconsin.
In 1854, the family moved west with the Rev Clausen party to settle on farmland near St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. Her father bought land there in 1855 from the US Government.

Anna Helena married Martin Erickson Aamodt on August 8, 1870.
She died July 21, 1872 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
