FUNERAL NOTICE:
ST. ANSGAR — Gladys Westrem, 88, of St. Ansgar, died Monday, January 11, 2016.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating.
Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will start one hour before the service.

Gladys was the daughter of Harry and Clara (Lange) Priem. She was born on November 2, 1927 in Otranto Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. Gladys was baptized December 4, 1927 at her home by Rev. Paul Brammer and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, April 6, 1941 by Rev. Paul Brammer.
Gladys attended school at Otranto Public School for ten years. She attended St. Ansgar Public School her Junior and Senior years, graduating in 1945. Gladys lived with her parents on a farm south of Otranto until her marriage to Marvin G. Westrem on June 28, 1947. In December of 1948 Gladys and her family moved to St. Ansgar where they built their new home.
Gladys was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Senior Choir for 50 years. She also served with her husband as custodian of the church for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and mother and father-in-law.
Gladys is survived by her three sons: Dave (Joanne), John (Joyce) and Lester (Paula); by three grandchildren: Jeremy (Amber) Westrem, Amana (Jay) Melcher and Allison (Scott) Huston; four step grandchildren: Matt Pohlman, Nick (Daci) Pohlman, Christina Dreier and Nathan Cunningham; by five great-grandchildren; and by eight step great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Bruce Kaltwasser officiating. Burial will be in the St. Peter Cemetery, Toeterville, Iowa.
Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to the service at the church. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.
