Obituary--

Marie Peterson, age 102 (and a half), of Grand Meadow, Minnesota, went to heaven on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Meadow Manor in Grand Meadow, Minnesota.

Marie Mathilda Jones was born on July 31, 1911, daughter of Curtis and Margaret (Hanson) Jones in McIntire, Iowa. Marie graduated from LeRoy High School, LeRoy, Minnesota.

On July 31, 1933, she married Carl Peterson. They settled in Grand Meadow. Marie was a clerk in the Grand Meadow Post Office for many years, often working with Carl. Marie enjoyed her family, playing cards, making lefse and gardening.

She also made many quilts over the years. One for each of her boys and their children, as well as many quilt tops for the church to finish and donate to those in need. Marie was a member of Grand Meadow Lutheran church and had been active in Bible study and Sunday school before moving to the assisted living.

Marie is survived by two of her sons. Charles ( domestic partner Patrick Ward) , and Glenn (Kathy) Peterson; Daughters in law Delores Peterson and Joan Peterson; Grandchildren Jeff Peterson, Deb Peterson. Dan Peterson, David Peterson, Karen Watrous, Julie Moldoven, Scott Peterson, Michelle Chewning as well as many great and great, great grandchildren.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 2003, and her middle son Robert in 2013, as well as her siblings, Emma, Margaret, Wilbur (Web) and Edward (Bus).

Funeral services and burial will be at a later date so the rest of her family can be here.
