Sylvia was the daughter of Elmer and Gertrude "Gertie" (Baumgartner) Steinberg of St. Ansgar, Iowa.

She married David Zea, in Mason City, Iowa, on June 1, 1952.

Survivors include her four children: Becky (Bob) Smith; Jeff (Gwen) Zea; Mary (Glenn) Delagardelle; and Steve Zea.

Burial was in Westview Cemetery, La Porte City,
Black Hawk County, Iowa.
