ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Margaret Ann (Gemaehlich) Cowell, 83, of St. Ansgar, died Monday, June 22, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to service at the church. Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret was born in 1932 in Alma, Nebraska. Her parents were Gerhardt and Irma (Bublitz) Gemaehlich. After multiple moves Margaret's family settled in St. Ansgar where she graduated from high school in 1950. While attending high school she met Lee Cowell at the roller skating rink where they spent many hours skating. In August 1950, Lee and Margaret exchanged wedding vows at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar, where they have been lifelong members. To this union four children were born: Carey, Marty, Melody and Lory.

Margaret was a homemaker and tended to the needs of the family. Her lifelong hobbies were bowling, golf and fishing. Her passion was in the many oil paintings she created.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; Gerhardt and Irma Gemaehlich. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Lee of 64˝ years; her children, Carey (Debbie) Cowell, their children, Aaron Cowell, Regina Cowell and fiancé Michael Piccirilli; Marty (Carolyn) Cowell, their sons, Morgan Cowell and Jesse Liddle, Mason (Carey) Cowell and Marshall Cowell and Alexia Warwick; Melody (Don) Tesch, their son Cale (Kristin) Tesch; Lory (Jeff) Olsen, their daughter Tara Olsen; four great-grandchildren.; brothers, Duane (Yvonne) Gemaehlich, Leon (Doris) Gemaehlich; sister Janet; sisters-in-laws, Betty VanHorn, Karen (Larry) Crilly; numerous nieces and nephews.
