IowaDES MOINES, IOWA - Rose Marie Ostrander, 84, formerly of Osage, died at 2:30 p.m. December 9, 2014, at Trinity Center at Luther Park in Des Moines. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2014, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ottumwa with Father Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, followed by family visitation until 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Center at Luther Park, HCI-VNS Care Services of Iowa or for Masses.
She was born July 17, 1930 in Mitchell County, Iowa, to Delia and Bertha Arickx Lievrouw. She married Gerald L. “Jerry” Ostrander on December 2, 1951. He preceded her in death on March 2, 2014.
A graduate of Osage High School, she had worked as a secretary for an insurance company in Waterloo. She had worked in the floral department at Easter’s in Ottumwa. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church where she was an extensive volunteer and held various positions. Rose Marie was a GOP representative, was an avid collector and loved her girls.
Surviving are five daughters, Jo Ellen (Dennis) Rodgers of Spring Hills, Kansas, Carol Ostrander of Algonquin, Illinois, Barb (Bruce) Schroder of Palo Alto, California, Linda (James Penn) Ostrander of Ottumwa and Liz (Jeff) Mayer of Altoona; six grandchildren: Monica (Charles) Brenneman, Joel Rodgers, Carla (Michael) Brock, Phillip Schroder, Brent Schroder and Luke Schroder; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Dylan Brenneman; three brothers: Chuck (Eloise) Lievrouw of Ft. Worth, Texas, Dale (Kathy) Lievrouw and Rick Lievrouw both of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three sisters: Mary Lee Gailey of Lubbock, Texas, Dorothy Robertson of Mitchell, and Erma (Kenny) Johnson of Spokane, Washington.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Walt Lievrouw.
