Lars Jorgensen Oppedal (Oppedahl) was born November 10, 1876 at Oppedal, Lofthus, Norway to Mr. & Mrs. Jorgen L. Oppedal.

He left Norway in 1911 to emigrate to America, sailing on the ship "Mauretania" and arriving at New York City. He traveled on to Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa where he worked as a laborer for the Moe family.

Lars married Marie Moe on April 17, 1931 at the Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had no children.

Found in the 1920 - 1940 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1920: Martin O Mae 52, Lena Mae 47, Marie Mae 42, Lars J Oppedal 43.

1925: Martin O Moe 57, Lena Moe 52, Mary Moe 48, Lars Oppedal 48.

1930: Lars J Appedal 53, Mary Moe 53.

1940: Lars J Oppedal age 63.

Lars was a farmer. He lived on a 129 acre farm (known in 2010 as the Carl Lorence farm, on the Rudd Blacktop 1 mile east of Meroa) with his wife, Mary, after their marriage in 1931. She had inherited the farm. She died a few months after their marriage. After his death, he willed it to some nephews in Norway. The nephews sold the farm to Olvin, Clarence and Edward Moe, three brothers who were sons of George and Olava Moe.

Lars J Oppedal died January 26, 1956 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
