Olava Thorine Olson was born April 6, 1869, on a farm north of Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Levor Olson Lindelien and Ingeborg Olsdatter Uhlen, the seventh of their eleven children.

Olava was baptized on May 2, 1869 at the First Lutheran Church at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.

She was confirmed on June 7, 1885 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Olava married Syver Veggarsen Moen on September 14, 1897 at Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

The couple had one daughter, Lydia (b July 5, 1900 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa, d June 8, 1988 Crescent City, Putnam, Florida).

Found in the 1900 census living at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa with her husband at her cousins farm, Henry & Tom Lindley (Lindelien).

Olava T. Moen died on April 7, 1901, at Meroa, Iowa from Bright's Disease. The day before she died, she told of a vision of a stairway to heaven from Jacob's desert dream; she saw the angels of God descending and lifting her out of bed and carrying her up the grand staircase to heaven. Her daughter, Lydia was just 8 months old.

She is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Iowa.
