Obituary for Horace E. Hofland.
Horace E. Hofland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole A. Hofland of Austin, Minnesota, died at the home of his parents, November 20, 1918, after a week's illness with influenza, followed by pneumonia and liver trouble.
Horace was born on March 6, 1886, in Mitchell county, Iowa, and at the time of his death was 22 years**, 8 months and 14 days old. A year ago this fall he was taken sick with pleurisy and pneumonia and liver trouble, and since then has never been strong. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his father and mother, four brothers and four sisters: Albert of Enderlin, North Dakota, Oscar of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Eddie of Buffalo, South Dakota, Clifford with the Expeditionary Forces, Bertha of Gary, Minnesota, Orphia, Ruth and Faith at home.
A short funeral service was held at the home in Austin, Saturday, November 23rd by Rev. Brown, and the reamins were taken to Pleasant Hill Cemetery for burial in the family lot. Rev. Moe was in charge of the services.
