Robert Olsen was born April 22, 1905 at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa to Gunvald Leonard Olsen and Karin Abrahamson, the third of their seven children.

Robert died October 11, 1905 at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the First Lutheran Church Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Obituary from the St Ansgar Enterprise:

Last Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. Gunval Olson living west of town were called upon to part with their only son, Robert, age five months and twenty days.

He died from summer complaint after a brief illness. The funeral was conducted by Rev. M.E. Waldeland at the Norwegian Lutheran Church last Friday. The bereaved parents wish to extend their thanks to all the kind friends and neighbors for their aid and sympathy.
