Martha Larsdatter (Nelson) Odden was born April 16, 1852 at Aadal, Buskerud, Norway to Lars Nelson Odden and Olea Olsdatter Teigen, the third of their nine children and a twin to sister, Else.

Martha emigrated with her parents in 1853 to Wisconsin. In 1854, the family moved west to farmland at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1856 census living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: Lars Nelson 36, Olea Nelson 32, Martha Nelson 4, Elsia Nelson 4, Nelse Loss (Olaus Nels) Nelson 1.

Found in the 1860, 1870 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1860: Lars Nelson 39, Olea Nelson 36, Martha Nelson 8, Nelsolars Nelson 5, Edward Nelson 1, Gabriel Nelson 3 mos.

1870: Lewis Nelson 40, Olea Nelson 40, Olavis Nelson 14, Martha Nelson 18, Edward Nelson 11, Gabriel Nelson 9, Carl Nelson 5, Ole Nelson 3, Han D Nelson 2.

Martha's parents used the surname Nelson in Norway and the US and then switched to the surname Odden abt 1890.

Martha married Gunder Throndsen Winnor on April 25, 1878 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple lived on a farm south of Rudd, Floyd, Iowa.

The couple had 3 children:
Clara Olava (b August 19, 1878, d March 3, 1967 Osage, Mitchell, Iowa);

Lauritz Theodor (b September 23, 1879, d March 29, 1948 Los Angeles, California) and

Martin Gustav (b February 28, 1881, d either the same day or soon after).

Found in the 1880 census at rural Rudd, Floyd, Iowa: Gunder Winnor 29, Martha Winnor 28, Clara Winnor 1, Laurs Winnor 3 mos, Tron Anderson 64.

Martha Winnor died on February 28, 1881 at home in rural Rudd, Floyd, Iowa from complications of childbirth. She was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
