Obituary - Mr. Jeffries

Frederick Wesley Jeffries, son of the late Jesse and Ellen Jeffries, was born in Rock county, Wisconsin, October 3, 1855 and passed away at his home in Osage December 27, 1929 at the age of 74 years, s months and 24 days.

At the age of eight years, he with his parents came to the farm in Rock township, Mitchell county, Iowa where he grew to manhood and lived until he moved to Osage 19 years ago last April 1st.

He was married November 13, 1882 to Luella Eliza Lovejoy who preceded him in death about 15 years ago. To this union were born four children: Jesse William and Ina Vietta (now Mrs. Ray Carter) who reside in Rock township; Charley Delzo in Mitchell township and Earl Harry in Cedar township. These with seven grandchildren survive him.

Besides his immediate family, he is survived by one brother, James Edward of Mason City and four sisters, Mrs. Fannie DuShane, South Dakota, Mrs. Lillian Wagner, Osage, and Mrs. Nellie Stokes of Cedar Falls. Five brothers preceded him in death.

Mr. Jeffries was first a home body, a devoted husband, father, and loving grandfather. Quiet yet firm in his allegiance to friends, church and lodges. He was as honest man in his dealings with their fellowman.

Funeral services were conducted in the church at 2 p.m.Sunday by Rev. Jennie Hitchcock, assisted by Rev. Frank Miller. Internment was made in Osage cemetery with a burial survice by the Odd Fellows.
