MOE, Gulbrand "Gilbert" Oleson 1861-1916

Gulbrand (Gilbert) Oleson Moe was born November 26, 1861 at Valdres, Oppland, Norway to Ole Oleson Christiansmoen and Guri Olsdatter Bjoran Maafaa, the second of their eight children.

He emigrated in 1865 to Wisconsin with his parents. Found on the ship's list for April 1865, ship "Peruvian". The family settled at Dane, Wisconsin. The following year (1866), the family moved west to settle on farmland at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Gulbrand never married, nor had children. He owned a 129 acre farm with his brother, Martin Moe.

1885: Oley O Moe 54, Julia Moe 48, Ole O Moe 25, Gilbert Moe 23, Julia Moe 20, Martin Moe 17, George Moe 15, Lena Moe 12, Carra Moe 10, Mary Moe 8.

1895: Gilbert Moe age 32.

1900: Gulbrand Moe 38, Martin Moe 33, Guri Moe 63, Lina Moe 28, Karina Moe 25, Maria Moe 23.

1905: Gilbert O. Moe, Martin Moe, Lena Moe, Mary Moe.

1910: Gulbrand Moe 48, Martin Oleson Moe 43, Oline Moe 37, Marie Moe 33.

1915: G O Moe age 52.

Gulbrand Moe died May 12, 1916 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
