Mr. Serenus A. Werk
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 25, 1983, at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City, for Serenus A. Werk, 91, Osage, Iowa, and a former Charles City resident, who died Saturday, January 22, 1983, at a Nora Springs nursing home. The Rev. J. Pittman, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Osage, officiated at the service. Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City, with military honors by the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the World War I Veterans.
Hauser Funeral Home of Charles City was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Werk was born on October 23, 1891 in Charles City, Iowa, to August and Lydia (VonBerg) Werk.
Serenus A. Werk and Beatrice Reynolds were united in marriage September 27, 1921, in Charles City. They farmed west of Charles City until 1964, when they moved to Osage.
He was a former member of St. Charles United Methodist Church; a member of Osage United Methodist Church, the Farm Bureau, the World War I Veterans and a life member of the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Serenus is survived by a daughter, Mrs. John (Rebecca) Miller, of Knoxville; on son, Dwight, of Osage; and two step-sisters, Mrs. Eva Fluhrer, of Charles City, and Mrs. Ruth Smith, of LuVerne.
It is requested that all memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church, Osage.
