Olai Johannesen Maakestad born August 28, 1855 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Johannes Moa Pedersen Maakestad and Gjoa Olsdatter Aaren, the fourth of their five children. (Found with the name Ole Johnson.) Olai had a twin brother, Peter. Their mother died one day after their birth.

The twins were baptized in September 1855 at the First Lutheran Church, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa by Reverand Ole Harralsen Uhlen.

Found in the 1856 census living at rural Osage, Mitchell, Iowa: John Peterson 36, John Peterson 22, Betsey Peterson 32, Ole Johnson 1, Peter Johnson 1.

Olai died October 11, 1856 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Since his mother was buried the year before at Riverview Cemetery, Newburg township, Mitchell County, Iowa, believe he is also buried there but have found no burial record.

Note: Ole's brother Peter did grow to adulthood and died in North Dakota.
