Heart AttackOSAGE, IOWA — Dr. Merrill Eiel, 54, died suddenly Sunday night.
He had been a practicing physician here 22 years. He had not been in good health for some time, but had continued practice. He died of a heart attack at the home of his brother, Dr. John Eiel, where he had lived the past month.
Dr. Eiel was born in Buffalo Center in 1903, the son of Hans Edward and Sarah Eiel. He was a graduate of the SUI School of Medicine. He served his internship at St. Francis Hospital, La-Crosse, Wis., and his residency at University Hospital, Madison, Wis. He came to Osage in 1935.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. James (Jean) Peterson, Vinton; one son, Jack, a student at Grinnell College; one grandson; his brother, Dr. John Eiel.
