Mildred Gutches 1880-1945 (Osage)
Mrs. Roy Gutches Dies in Illinois; Interment in Osage
Funeral services for Mrs. Roy Gutches, 64, were held Monday afternoon at the Champion Funeral Home here. Mrs. Gutches, a former resident of Osage, died February 27 at the home of her son, William, at Blue Island, Illinois. Last rites were conducted by Rev. Stiles Lessly, and burial was made in the Osage Cemetery.
Mildred Bessie Chute, daughter of Frank and Emma Chute, was born April 26, 1880, in Osage. She attended the Osage public schools and also took post-graduate work at the Cedar Valley Seminary. She became a member of the First Congregational Church of Osage March 3, 1895.
On October 7, 1903, she was united in marriage to Maurice LeRoy Gutches. This union was blessed with two sons, William Francis Gutches, of Blue Island, Illinois, and Maurice Gutches of Banning, California, both surviving.
Mrs. Gutches was a kind and faithful wife and mother. Her life was centered around her family and home and in later years her two granddaughters were a source of great enjoyment.
Mr. and Mrs. Gutches spent all of their married life at their farm home south of Osage, with the exception of four years spent in Banning, Calif., and Blue Island, Ill.
Mr. Gutches died Nov. 23, 1944. Mrs. Gutches had been in failing health for many months.
Surviving are the two sons, two granddaughters, and one niece, Mrs. Harold Levers, of Osage. The sons and their wives accompanied the body to Osage for burial.
