SPONHEIM, KLEMESRUD, BERGE, MELSON

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 26, 1987, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Osage, for Ingvald Sponheim, 90, of Osage. Rev. R. Hoppenworth officiated and burial was in the Rock Creek Church cemetery. Mr. Sponheim died on Saturday, May 23, 1987, at an Osage nursing home.

He was born in West Cedar Township in Mitchell County, on January 11, 1897 to Magnus and Guro (Berge) Sponheim. He attended rural schools in West Cedar Township including Penrose School in West Cedar Townhip. He also attended Waldorf Academy in Forest City for two years.

Mr. Sponheim married Alice Klemesrud on March 9, 1922 in rural Osage. The couple farmed in West Cedar Township until 1950 when they moved to osage. He remained active on the farm until 1977.

Mr. Sponheim was a veteran of the Army during World War I.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Osage; a daughter, Margaret Melson of New Orleans; a son, Norman of Nora Springs; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
