Again the death messenger has invaded our ranks and called another one of our former Osage residents, Kittie Ann Sherman, who was born in Fredericksburg, Iowa, September 14, 1866, and passed away at her home in Whittier, California, on January 9, 1945. She was the youngest of the four children of the Rev. T. H. Sherman (whose father also was a Baptist minister) whose ministry as pastor and colporter took him with the family to many towns in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa before settling for some time in Osage.

At the home of her parents in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, in 1890, she was married to William H. Coulthurst, a progressive young farmer of Osage who had been a classmate in the Cedar Valley Seminary. The young couple established their new home just west of Osage among their many friends, taking an active part in church and public affairs; Mr. Coulhurst serving several years as a County Supervisor.

Here, also, their two children were born, Harold, now of Los Angeles, and Stella, now Mrs. Brubaker of Orange, California. In 1905 the family moved to California and three years later settled in Whittier which had ever since been their home.

Devoted as she was to her home, family and church, she still had time for wider community interests in support of various civic and social organizations.
