MRS. CHARLOTTE DAVIS
DIES AT HOME TUESDAY

Mrs. Charlotte Anna Davis, 82, died at her home on east Main Street Tuesday, after a long illness, from the usual ailments of old age.

Charlotte Anna Crawford was born in Clayton county, Iowa on August 22, 1860. She came with her parents, Isaac and Elmira Newland-Crawford, in 1864 to the homestead in Lincoln township, where she was reared.

She married Grove Wales, a Canadian citizen, and to them one child, Maude Ella, was born. Mr. Wales' health failed and they moved to California in the hope of benefiting him. There he and their daughter, five years old, passed away.

The deceased remained in California for ten years, then returned to Iowa. She married Ira J. Davis, of Charles City, in 1897, and she continued to live there until shortly after his death.

Mrs. Davis purchased a home on east Main street in Osage, about three years ago.

Surviving are her sisters: Mrs. Phoebe Towner, Osage, Mrs. David Sewright and Mrs. William Walling, Orchard. Also a brother, George Crawford, Orchard.

Funeral services will be held at the Shelledy Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, and burial will be in the family lot in the Orchard cemetery.
