Riceville, Iowa — Mildred Luella Evans, age 91, of Riceville, passed away at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage, Iowa, on Tuesday July 23, 2013.
Funeral services will be held in Riceville at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Parris officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in rural Riceville. Friends may call at the church one hour before services. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville is in charge of the arrangements.
Mildred was born in rural Riceville to Joseph Christian and Rose Alvina (Worple) Reckner on Aug. 2, 1921. She attended local schools, and was united in marriage to Kenneth Isaac Evans on March 25, 1940, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Riceville. She was a loving homemaker, an avid bird watcher, and loved gardening. Mildred was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Garden Club and the Acme Birthday Club.
Survivors include her two sons: Gene (Carrie) Evans of Osage, Iowa, and Larry Evans of Donna, Texas, and a son-in-law Eugene Schwake of Waterville, Minn. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth in 1995, her daughter Bonnie Schwake in 2009, and two sisters, Marie Day and Grace Tonn.
