LA PORTE CITY, IOWA — Mary C. Kruckenberg, 89, of La Porte City, died Saturday, May 18, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born on December 25, 1923, in Riceville, daughter of Theodore and Wilemenia Klein Bottema. She married Allan G. Kruckenberg on April 9, 1947, in La Porte City. He preceded her in death in January 1983.
Mrs. Kruckenberg graduated from La Porte City High School in 1941. She was a homemaker and a farm wife and also worked for several years in the kitchen of the La Porte City School. She was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sons, Bruce (Rhonda) of Dubuque and Michael (Jeanne) of Postville; a daughter, Marsha (Jim) Aspinall of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Susan Kruckenberg of Ogden; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry in 2008; four brothers, John, Hank, Rinard and William Bottema; and four sisters, Catherine Joens, Johanna Supple, Angeline Stoner and Elizabeth Raymond.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at La Porte City Funeral Service, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. parish Scripture service and a 6:30 p.m. rosary. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
