Guul Hansen (Melgaardseie) was born 1845 at Melgaardseie, Sinde Aursdal, Norway, to Hans Gulsens and Olia Olsdatter. He emigrated to America.

He married Kjersti Engebritsdatter Qvisle Nelson (who had previously been married to Ole Torgersen Fagrebakken until Ole's death) on April 20, 1877 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. Do not think he had children. Guul lost a hand during his life in an accident.

Believe he died at Mitchell County, Iowa but cannot find census records, a death record or a burial record to confirm this.
