Olea Gulbrandsdatter was born January 10, 1823 at Eidsfater, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway to Gulbrand Pedersen & Chatrine Nilsdatter, the fifth of their eight children. Olea was baptized in January of 1823 at Hurdal, Akershus, Norway.

Birth/baptism record found at Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Hurdal 1815-1828, pg 129 #6: Father: Gulbrand Pedersen Eidsfater, mother: Chatrine Nielsdatter. Sponsors: Marie Olsdatter Eidsfater, Marthe Larsdatter, Kari Jorgensen, Christopher Larsen.

Olea married Ole Olsen Vestlein on June 17, 1842 at Hurdal, Akershus, Norway. Marriage record found in Norwegian Digital Archives for Hurdal, Akershus, Norway 1828-1845, pg 322, entry # 11. Ole was 21 years 3 mos, Olea was 18 yrs, 6 mos. Witnesses: Halvor Amundsen Rustad and ? Jonasen.

Olea and Ole had 2 children:
Olaus Olson (born August 28, 1844 Rustad. Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, died October 23, 1892 St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa) and

Caroline Olsdatter (born June 11, 1846 Vestlien, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway, died in Iowa date unknown.)

Wondering if spouse Ole died in Norway as Olea is found emigrating without her spouse and with her parents and her two children, Olaus and Caroline on April 6, 1861 to St. Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa. Emigration record found on-line at Hurdal in Hurdal 1860-1877 pg 217. Left Norway April 6, 1861: entry #103 is Gulbrand age 75; #104 Chatrine age 69; #105 Olea Gulbrandsdatter Rustad age 38; #106 Christian age 19; #107 Olaus Olsen age 17 and #108 Caroline Olsdatter age 15.

Found in the 1870 census living at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa with son Olaus and her parents: Olivers (should be Olaus)Oleson 27, Olea Oleson 50, Gilbert Nelson 90, Caterina Nelson 75.

Olea Gulbrandsdatter Oleson died January 3, 1879 at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa with the name Olea O. Rustad on her gravestone.
