Chatrine (Katrine) Nilsdatter (Nielsdatter) was born March 1792 at Prestejele, Hurdal, Akershus, Norway to Nils Olsen and Mari Gulliksdatter. Birth record found in Norwegian Digital Archives on-line for Hurdal, Akershus, Norway 1777-1812; pg 39 (2nd from bottom). (Hard to decipher), birth March 1792. Baptismal sponsors: Gudbrand Rudstad, Augustinna and Lars Gudbrandsen; Catrine Gullicksdatter; Anne Grellise (sp?) Saeteran. May have also lived at Enge in Norway.

Chatrine married Gulbrand Pedersen March 11, 1810 at Hurdal, Akershus, Norway. Marriage record found on line at the Norwegian Digital Archives for Hurdal 1777-1812, pg 110, left side, halfway down the page. Gulbrand Pedersen Eidsfater & Chatrine Nielsdatter Rustad.

The couple had 8 children: Karen Matea, Anne, Berthe Marie, Kristine, Olea, Inga Lovise, Nils and Ingsbard. (Their details found in Gulbrand's obit at this site.)

Found Gulbrand and Chatrine emigrating April 6, 1861 from Hurdalen, Akershus, Norway in the Norwegian Digital Archives on-line, Hurdal in Hurdal 1860-1877, pg 217, entry #'s: 103 Gulbrand age 75; #104 Chatrine age 69; # 105 Olea Gulbrandsdatter Rustad age 38; #106 Christian age 19; #107 Olaus Olsen age 17 and #108 Caroline Olsdatter age 15. Family settled near St Ansgar on a farm in Newburg township, Mitchell County, Iowa.

Found in the 1870 census at Newburg, Mitchell, Iowa living with grandson Olaus Oleson: Olivers Oleson 27, Olea Oleson 50, Gilbert Nelson 90, Caterina Nelson 75.

Chatrine Nielsdatter Pedersen died May 4, 1874 at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the First Lutheran Cemetery, St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Notes: Found errors on-line giving her birth as October 29, 1786 and her cemetery listing online gives birth year 1791. Chose the birth date found in the Norwegian Digital Archives which appears to be March 1792.
