Elaine Havig, age 98, of Osage, Iowa, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Msgr. John Hemann officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage where there will be a 4:30 p.m. rosary. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Elaine was born April 30, 1915, the daughter of Alfred and Rose (Weber) Kleckner in Orchard. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in New Haven. On August 14, 1940, Elaine was united in marriage to Marlin Havig at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven. She worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Roach Farms/Midwest Realtors. Elaine was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Guild, Sacred Heart Study Club, Osage American Legion and VFW Auxiliary’s, and DAV Auxiliary of Mason City. She especially enjoyed growing strawberries in her garden, baking cookies for her grandchildren, crocheting, and playing cards.

Elaine is survived by three daughters, Judi Oudekerk of Buffalo, Minnesota, Janet (Gerald “Jiggs”) Grimm of Mitchell, Mary Howell of Warrenville, Illinois; a son, James (Becci) Havig of Mason City; a sister, Dolores Byrnes of Riceville; seven grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Don) Fox of Osage, Kirk Hungate of Osage, Jennifer Morrison of Maplewood, Minnesota, Vicki (Dave) Wayman of Pontiac, Illinois, Todd (Jen) Grimm of Mitchell, Troy (Brandi) Havig of Mason City, Katie E. Havig of Mason City; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marlin in 2006; three sisters, Dorothy Smalley, Margaret Tatge, Kathy Rothenbuhler; three brothers, Duane, Bernard, and Donald Kleckner; and two sons-in-law.
