Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, December 10, 1986, at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel in Mason City for Loren E. Weaverling, 65, of Mason City.

Mr. Weaverling died on Friday, December 5, 1986 at a V.A. hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Rev. F. Wood will officiate and burial will be in the Osage Cemetery with military rites conducted by Osage VFW Post 7920. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Mr. Weaverling was born on April 30, 1921, in Osage, Iowa, to Perry and Anna (Popp) Weaverling. He graduated from Osage High School in 1939 and married Evelyn Runge of St. Ansgar on October 18, 1942. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force from October 1942 until November 1946.

He was manager of a variety store in Osage and Mason City where he moved to in 1947. He was later employed by Mason City Tent and Awning before being employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a city carrier, until his retirement.

He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, was a charter member of the Osage VFW Post 7920, as well as a current member of the Mason City VFW. He served as past president of Mason City Garden Club, and as past president of Iowa Rose Society. He was also active in the Wigwam and Campers and local C.B. Club.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn of Mason City; one son, Larry; two grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan of Des Moines; his mother, Anna Weaverling, a sister, Mrs. Ervin (Hazel) Betts, and three brothers: John, Melvin and Marold, all of Osage.

He was preceded in death by his father, Perry; and a brother, Donald.
