Henry Oscar Gisleson was born February 21, 1876 at Marion, Clayton, Iowa​ to ​Peter H. Gisleson​ and ​Kjersti Clara ​Olsdat​ter, the oldest of their six children.

Found in the 1895 census living at Marion, Clayton, Iowa: Henry O Gisleson age 18.

The family moved west to near Orchard, rural Floyd County, Iowa before 1900 and bought farmland. Henry was a farmer, he never married nor had children.
